Argentina watch: Chubut wind, new Mendoza company, Santa Fe demand

Argentine province Chubut's environment ministry held a public hearing to review Eólico Valle Hermoso's planned 12MW wind farm.

Work could begin next quarter pending the issue of required permits, the provincial government said in a statement. The US$26mn project would boast eight, 1.5MW NRG 1500 turbines and connect to the national SADI grid via the Patagonia SIP grid at the Valle Hermoso transformer.

The lower house of Mendoza province's legislature approved into law a bill submitted by the province's executive to create provincial energy company Empresa Mendocina de Energía (Emesa) whose duties will include R&D, administration and E&P of all energy resources. The law in Spanish is available here


And Santa Fe province utility Empresa Provincial de la Energía (EPE) reported capacity demand of 2,022MW in recent days due to high temperatures, and close to EPE's record of 2,040MW set this February.
